Makeup Geek Eyeshadows and Lipstick Review

I recently posted a First Impressions video on my youtube channel (click here) showing my initial reaction to trying some Makeup Geek eyeshadows and one of their lipsticks for the first time. I am glad I opted to try these products as they are reasonably priced and lives up to the high regards that i have heard.

I purchased the items from the Makeup Geek website (link) which ships internationally (hooray for that). These are a definite must try for amateurs and pros alike, as the quality is similar to that of a MAC shadow at half the price. The package came a nice personal touch , the packing slip had a hand written 'Thank You' note and the name of the person who packed it. A gesture I find welcoming and a company I would do further business with. Presentation and customer service is everything in the highly competitive beauty industry.

The shadows come in a pan form similar to the hot pots from Coastal Scents or BH Cosmetics or you can opt to get them in the compact form. The packaging in which the pots comes in is absolutely beautiful and can be used to store the shadow if a palette is not available to you. You can switch the pot around to use it from the opening in the back of the packaging.

I have 5 of the eyeshadows which I find to be very pigmented (transference is amazing), even the lighter coloured matte shades which can tend to be troublesome showing up on the skin. The shadows can also be packed on to build up on the colour intensity. The product applies very smoothly with little to no fall out.

The eyeshadows are priced at USD$5.99 for 1.8g of product.

Front of the packaging

Back of the packaging (shadow can be turned around and used from the open slot)

L-R: Crème Brulee, Cosmopolitan, Country Girl, Goddess, Frappe

Crème Brulee - A medium sand color with a soft matte finish
Cosmopolitan - Rose Gold with gold flecks and a shimmery finish
Country Girl - Shimmery pink brown
Goddess - Metallic pale copper
Frappe - Medium maple brown matte

I got only one of the lipsticks as I did not see as much reviews on these as i did the shadows so I only one for an initially trial.

The lipsticks come in an equally beautiful packaging as the shadows. The tube itself is very sleek and is black with the Makeup Geek flower logo printed on the tube in a glossy black finish. The top of the tube is transparent so you are able to see the actual colour of the lipstick, while the name of the colour is printed on the bottom.

I purchased the lipstick in the shade Delightful. Initially (as shown in the video) I found this to swatch very sheer on my hands However, when I applied it to the lips and started building it up it became a very nice opaque colour. The shade is a beautiful rose pink colour and is feels very hydrating on the lips almost like a balm. I found it to have a decent wear time (about 4 to 6 hours). It leaves a nice stain on the lips when it begins to fade. It has that chemical lipstick smell which is not strong but in my opinion would have been better if it had a nice subtle sweet fragrance. I have heard that the lipsticks will be reformulated and relaunched in the future. Hopefully with a pleasant smell.

The lipsticks are priced at $7.99 regularly but has been reduced to $6.99 for 4g of product.
